Ambulance Make Ready Service

Coming up-to two years since Spark Medical announced we had appointed ClearTrace Infection Control as our new Infection Control Provider, we are delighted to announce that today we have brought ClearTrace Infection Control onboard full time to manage our complete Ambulance Make Ready Service.

ClearTrace are industry specialists in Infection Control and providing solutions that include Make Ready, Vehicle Preparation, Vehicle Deep Cleaning, Ad-Hoc Decontamination and Premises Cleaning Systems all badged under the ClearTrace Total Hygiene Solution for Emergency Services.

The ClearTrace Ambulance Make Ready service is designed by Justin Wand who is the foremost expert in the UK for Make Ready Systems. Under his guidance South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) were the first regional NHS Ambulance Trust to introduce Make Ready Systems, Justin was then recruited by London Ambulance Service (LAS) to modernise their fleet, logistics and operational support systems which included Make Ready implementation across the Capital.

LAS is one of the busiest ambulance services in the World producing more than 3.6m hours of clinical time enabling a response for over two million patients every year!

What is a Make Ready Service?

Make Ready is quality assured vehicle preparation process that is crew and patient friendly, minimises the risk of infection and maximises vehicle availability.

In simple terms, all vehicles will be prepared by a dedicated team of specialist technicians who clean, restock and check the equipment on ambulances at the end of every shift ensuring the vehicle is road worthy and fully equipped for its next shift.

Having our clinical staff carrying out these procedures is a time consuming process that takes these highly specialised care staff away from their real job of providing outstanding patient centred care.

The Make Ready Technicians have industry leading training through the only ISO accredited provider in the country and industry partners like; Ferno, Zoll and Stryker to name a few.

Matthew Kelly, Director at Spark Medical says “The investment of the ClearTrace Ambulance Make Ready system is something we are extremely excited to roll out. James Staniland and the team at ClearTrace Infection Control are integral to this system so we look forward to developing and even closer working relationship”.

James Staniland, Group Sales Director at ClearTrace Infection Control says “ Everyone at ClearTrace Infection Control has the same desire for constantly improving IPC at the heart of every action and decision we make. It is behind decisions such as developing our own software systems to monitor vehicle deep cleans, moving to, and working with, Health Innovation One, delivering IPC Training, Auditing and only using our own chemical products to ensure consistency of results.

We’re proud and honoured today to announce the rollout of Ambulance Make Ready with Spark Medical. When clients like Matthew Kelly and Andy Richards and the team at Spark Medical have the same goals as ClearTrace this helps us better understand the real world challenges they face, it pushes innovation and standards higher. As important as our R&D is to us, without the feedback and support from our clients such as Spark Medical I believe we risk losing focus of the wants and needs of the end user, often our client’s client’s client!!

We are excited to be delivering Ambulance Make Ready Systems in partnership with the team at Spark Medical”
